Trouble went down during Easter. First signs that something was wrong, Grandpa wasn't in the mood for dinner. Now, you may think; why is this this a big deal? Well, if you knew my Grandpa, you would know that he never misses a meal, ever. He is usually the first to the dinner table and the last to finish. He eats until he can't anymore. Some of that may have to do with the fact that my grandma is an amazing cook.
Anyway, turns out he was having a stomach ache. A bad one at that. We took him to the emergency room. I was hoping that it was only food poisoning, sense we had eaten out at a restaurant the night before. However, he actually has a whole in his colon. Which is very bad news because it is infecting his inner workings. I am so stressed out over it. It looks as if they are going to have to do emergency surgery because his white blood cell count is going up, rather than down. Even with all the antibiotics they are giving him. Meaning, the infection is getting worse. My grandpa is one tough cookie, and when they asked him to rate his pain on a scale from 1-10, he told them 11. Poor grandpa :(
This whole thing is a total mess. Even more so because if they end up having to do emergency surgery, they have to put him under anesthesia. Because he had heart surgery a couple years back, putting him under anesthesia is a very risky thing. His previous heart problems triple his risk of having a stroke or another heart attack during the procedure.
So, keep him in your prayers for me? I need all the help I can get.
Besides the drama, the rest of my Easter was really great. I had an Easter egg hunt and went to church, I love holiday church. It's surprisingly fun (:Labels: easter, emergency, grandpa
